Fun Glipses One of the 2 large movie poster walls we placed in a hallway by the elevators. As you come up the elevator, you glimpse the movie wall through the doors. A fun texture on the wall that adds a richness to the space.
Staying True to the Process We wanted an authentic look for the layered movie poster walls, so we created these with the traditional technique of using wheat paste. A wonderfully non toxic, water cleanup and authentic look!
A Grid of Colorful Ears We installed a grid of colorful ears in one of the common areas. A fun conversation piece for the employees.
Fabrication Strategies After drilling the holes and applying the ears onto the panels, we created jigs to assure each one was orientated perfectly in a line. Making the assembly process of these fast, fool proof and looking great.
Cantilevering Shelving We designed this walnut shelving to hold Dolby's PR magazines and awards. The versatile shelving allows for various sized objects to be displayed. The fun layout and thick walnut make this a beautiful wall.
Interlocking Shelves After creating the undulating carving in the walnut, we created a positive shape to sit on top, allowing for awards and other objects to have their own small platforms.
Smooth Sleek Shelves Milled into the shelves is a small slit on the front for a name card. We designed this in to the project for more versatility. The shelves can have name cards on the front, calling out the objects placed there.
The Knob Wall Spanning down the entirety of a 40ft wall, the Knob Wall is striking in its grid like repetitive length.
1287 Knobs A seemingly random disbursement of knobs. 1287 in all across the 40 foot wall along 8ft tall panels.
Knob Assembly One by one, the 1287 knobs had to be attached across the ten large panels.
Installing and Testing In the field, final touches and tests on the LEDs before their final installation.
This one goes to 11 Of course, there needed to be one dial plate that went to 11. It's the loudest one of course.
Poster Collage Walls We covered large walls with movie posters that Dolby had done the sound for. Coming up with the collage patterns and choosing the posters was a fun hands on creative project.
Design Direction from the Street We used the overlaid look you see in urban areas as design direction. Several posters layered on top of one another, ripped then more applied. It was a hands on collaging process.
