The Asbury Discovery Center This building, at the Hattiesburg Zoo in MS, houses the Galapagos Tortoise exhibit, as well as several other smaller animals. The larger building in the back is an event center for rental and speaking engagements.

View from the west Near the front path, we've designed this wall to welcome all to the Asbury Discovery Center. It's operable spinning gears and decorative sign add interactivity to make it more than just signage.

Animal enclosures Leading up the path to the building, we come upon the first animal enclosure. Window frames were designed and fabricated in our Oakland facility and shipped to the site.
Window frames As you walk through the outside breezeways, our window frames show off the animal enclosures lining the walkway.
Reptile Window This large window shows a large collection of reptiles, as well as the facility within, where the zoo's animal care takers tend to the animals
Window and Door Frames Down the long hallway more window and door frames lead you to the main "Discovery Center Room" as well as the Tortoise house, where the Tortoises can go inside to get out of the yard.
Tortoise House Window Looking into the Tortoise House, a large decorative frame around the window gives a great view to the pipes and piston back wall and ceiling.
Tortoise House Interior Designed to look like an engine room, the ceiling and back wall of the Tortoise House are covered in pipes and an electrically operable piston.

The Outside Hallway The breezeway of the main building leads to the Discovery Center room.
The Asbury Discovery Center Room The inside of the Asbury Discovery Center is a wondrous room filled with objects of curiosity in every corner.

Kids Interactive Gear Wall The back wall shows off three large monitors with decorations above and an interactive spinning gear assembly below for kids.

Kids at the Gears Made to be fun for all ages, the wheels are a various heights to accommodate those at different levels.
The Ceiling The ceiling in the main room has a center of decorative tin, along with spanning arches and rotating fans.
Ceiling Medallions Each spanning arch for the interior and exterior of the building has a unique character carved into it. Done in an exterior grade millable signage material, we were able to 3D model and then carve each one at our in-house shop.
Ceiling Fans In between each arch is a rotating ceiling fan with a fancy custom ceiling mount. Though these ceiling fans rotate on their own power, we added a decorative belt system around them to add interest and intrigue.
Ceiling Fan Motor Large gears intertwine to rotate the belts around the fans.
Curio Cabinets Curio cabinets line the wall opposite the front doors. Filled with zoo artifacts and objects of interest, they lure patrons into the room.
Curio Secrets Small surprises for kids at every turn. Little doors on the bottom of the cabinets reveal hidden treasures.
Exploring Encouraged A young explorer checks out the secret small doors in the curio cabinets.

Secret Doors! Behind this framed floor to ceiling map is a secret door where the AV system and other non-magical things happen. Best to keep that all secret!
