New floor meets existing Here you can see the blending of the existing house to the addition. The floors were blended to make the transition invisible.
Design Sketch Here in the design drawing you can see the additional sun tubes that were added into the roof, as well as the nice transition from the old roof to the new.
Drawing detail Section views of the new construction.
The deck A striking view, looking up at the deck.
The whole house The whole house as seen from across the street. The addition complete, house painted and new trellis in place. Landscaping still to come.
The approach As you approach the shared drive, the dramatic deck reaches out to greet you.
Looking up At the base of the house looking up to the steel cantilevering deck. Landscaping with bougainvillea vines to come.
Exposed beams Inside we have kept the steel beams exposed and added gantry tracks. Seats are hung from these for the kids and adults to enjoy alike.
Exposed framing The skylights in the main living room have exposed framing, keeping with the industrial aesthetics of the house.
Glass railing The glass railing was cut to match the stairs going down. The glass in the center of the room allows light to come through and not block the line of sight.
The main room The large addition, with the new floor just put in and ready to be stained and finished.
